Hey everyone!

So I have some news. Next week I will be starting my first year at university! I am super excited to move and start going to school! But, I will need to take a bit of a break from blogging. I am not quitting, but I am just taking some time off so I can adjust to university life and being away from home. I hope you all have a great fall/ winter!

Top 10 Characters I would be best friends with

Hey everyone! Today I will be ranking the top 10 characters that I just did not click with.  We would definitely not be friends in real life.

10. Dumbledore form Harry Potter. I just need some wise old guy to tell me what to do with my life.
9. Kenji from Shatter Me. He is such a good friend and he is hilarious.
8. Katy from the Lux Series. She loves to read, she is a blogger, and she is funny. Yup, we are already friends.
7. Daemon from the Lux Series. Well I guess I would want to be more than friends....
6. Greg from Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. I would just be dying from laughter lets be real.
5. Finch from All the Bright Places. He is just super fun (well until the end of the novel..)
4. Emmy from Emmy & Oliver. I just want to learn how to surf.
3. Cress from Cress. Although she has been isolated her whole life, she still dreams and loves and I think we would go along wonderfully.
2. Iggy from Maximum Ride. I think that we would have a freakin awesome friendship. He is pretty quiet but he gets crazy when he is excited (uh, me.)
1. Hermoine Granger form Harry Potter. WE WOULD BE BEST FRIENDS FOREVER. I mean, we both love to read and both love school. She is awesome and I am awesome. Perfect right??

Review: Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta

Title: Jellicoe Road
Author: Melina Marchetta
Publisher: Penguin
Publication Date: August 28th, 2006
Genre: Contemporary
Page Count: 290
Age Range: 12+

Synopsis (from Goodreads):
"I'm dreaming of the boy in the tree. I tell him stories. About the Jellicoe School and the Townies and the Cadets from a school in Sydney. I tell him about the war between us for territory. And I tell him about Hannah, who lives in the unfinished house by the river. Hannah, who is too young to be hiding away from the world. Hannah, who found me on the Jellicoe Road six years ago."

Taylor is leader of the boarders at the Jellicoe School. She has to keep the upper hand in the terriotry wars and deal with Jonah Griggs- the enigmatic leader of the cadets, and someone she thought she would never see again. And now Hannah, the person Taylor had come to rely on, has disappeared. Taylor's only clue is a manuscript about five kids who lived in Jellicoe eighteen years ago. She needs to find out more, but this means confronting her own story, making sense of her strange, recurring dream, and finding her mother- who abandoned her on the Jellicoe Road.

My Thoughts:

When I was fourteen I read this book for the first time. I loved it so much I wrote my first review, which was pretty rough. I posted the review on Goodreads and I thought it would be super funny to put on here.
"I  can honestly say that this is my favorite book. Where should I start.... okay. The cover. I love the cover. This book was really different from any other book I have ever read. When I started reading it, I didn't think I would like it. But, the idea of this whole war between the townies, cadets, and the boarding school was so unique. This is probably what made it my favorite. This book made me laugh and cry. There was also the story inside the story that kept me reading. Overall, an amazing book. I recommend it to everyone."
But yeah, this is a great summary of my thoughts. This book has been my favorite book (besides Harry Potter) since I read it. Every single character has their own story but when they are smooched together they become even better. Taylor and Griggs have each had a really hard time growing up but they find each other and life is worth living again. When they see each other again after a few years they have to enlist the help of their friends to try to win the territory wars. Speaking of the territory wars, that is freaking awesome. The Cadets, Townies, and Jellicoe School must engage in different activities in order to win more territory in the town of Jellicoe. It takes leadership and the participation from everyone in order to win. SO GOOD.

I loved Taylor. She has been through so much crap but she is still strong. She does not take anyone's crap and usually stays under the radar. When she is given the role of the leader of the Jellicoe School for the territory wars she must step up and learn to trust. With the help of her friends, she learns to negotiate with the Cadets and Townies.

Also, Griggs. I love Griggs almost as much as I love Harry Potter. He is quiet and mysterious but once you get to know him and his story, you understand why he is the way he is. Taylor and Griggs work perfectly together and its amazing. End of story.

Overall, this book is amazing. Read it so you can understand what I mean. Please.

How this blog was started....

There wasn't any specific event that triggered me making this blog. It was more just me sitting in my room, staring at my bookcase and saying "you know what? it would be freakin cool to have a blog." And here we are. I started my blog the day after that and now it is just a challenge to see how long I can keep it. I love blogging because I can articulate clearly how I feel about a book and I get to communicate with so many amazing bloggers (see above). You are all amazing and make blogging so much fun!!!

Advice to other bloggers....

1. Do not be scared to say what you want. There have been a few times when I am writing a review and I kind of sugar coat what I mean. If you want to have a powerful review, just go for it.
2. Interact with the community. There are so many sites that you can meet other bloggers or you can just comment on other posts and see what happens.
3. Join Goodreads.  Goodreads is life.
4. Keep to your schedule. For example, I write posts every Saturday and post them on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Saturdays. It keeps me organized so I know exactly when I am doing things.
